Garmin Dash Cam 66W – Review

Garmin Dash Cam 66WIntroducing the Garmin Dash Cam 66W. As you drive through life, it’s so important to document your journey in order to share with friends and family later. With this discreet dash cam, you’ll be able to enjoy every moment while still capturing footage clearly for memories down the road. The extra-wide 180° angle of view captures 1440p footage while ensuring that landscapes are always clear and vibrant. This camera features Garmin HDR which provides high detail in low light situations while reducing glare from bright scenes! It’s small enough to mount on windshields, RV/Trucks or anywhere else giving drivers an easy way to record history as they live it without having intrusively absurd looking equipment inside their vehicle.

You can remotely capture footage from the dashboard cam. Plus, our Garmin Drive application enables you to play back video from upto 4 cameras on your smartphone using GPS data to map locations in Google Street View.

With a voice control that can recognize different languages and alerts to help keep you safe, your life will be much easier with this dash cam. The voice control also makes it easy for you to save videos or photos on the road:  just speak into the built-in mic to save a video or picture, start/stop audio recording and more—without taking hands off steering wheel. This dash cam also comes with driver alerts, including forward collision and lane departure warnings, which make it one of the safest decisions you’ll ever make for yourself! It has an easy-to-use camera screen as well as the ability to attach easily.

What can I say about the disadvantages? They’re there, too, aren’t they?

Nexar Dash Cam Inside and Outside 2021 Review | Our Honest Opinion

First of all, the USB cable that came with my Garmin was too short. It connects it to my phone but not to the cigarette lighter plug in. Secondly, when I switch on my dashcam to play audio or export it onto any other video, it does not function.

The dashcam heats up very fast and quite hot too. This is one of the reasons why the device may malfunction. In southern areas you need a heatsink.

The mount is only designed for one position: stuck to the windshield looking straight through it, not to the side.

Further, the recording is saved automatically only when the car collides. But if you want to record something that didn’t cause the accident, you can’t just save the recording later from the buffer – even if the memory card is far from full. To continue recording, you have to press the button on the camera and press it again, which will likely knock it off its set position again.

The support for my problems was terrible. My messages were sometimes ignored, and attempts to submit a request for a callback resulted in nothing.

And yes, I almost forgot, the micro SD card is not included, which is a bit strange for such a price.

  • The USB cable is too short
  • The dashboard gets hot very quickly. You may well need a radiator (especially in southern states)
  • The mount has only one way to install
  • You can only record and save a video you like manually
  • “Unobtrusive” tech support
